My IIM-I GD/PI was on 10th March i.e., today at 02:00 PM
Venue: ISI, Delhi
10th: 85%
12th: 76.4%
B.E.(DCE) E&C 71.7%
Extra curricullars : Pretty decent.
The following is a brief synopsis of what happened there :
GD : The GD was a case study and the group size was 8 people. A family was running a successful childrens fortnightly magazine by the name "Chaand" in Hindi and children used to like the fairy tales, puzzles etc in it. Finally the son Ashok gets suggestions from other tht thr shd be English version as well and some world affairs. So he starts two magazines "World" and "Duniya" out of which the english magazine "world" doesnt do well. He overhears some comments abt Chand being better, should be a weekly magazine, no IT related articles, children prefer cable television, english content not up to the mark etc. So what should Ashok do?
Time: 5 mins to think abt, 15 mins to discuss and 5 mins for summary
The discussion was very noisy and almost a fishmarket. I managed to put across at least three points which were well discussed and tried to pacify the group as well but to no avail. Overall I think the GD went well but I hope the group is not penalised for the fishmarket scenario.
Interview :
I was the first to be called for the interview in the group. Time: Around 20 mins.
The panel consisted of two profs and me. i think the profs were :

AP:So, Sharath tell me abt yourself.
ME: Blah Blah....Workex, acads, hobbies ...
AP: Ok, so tell me abt ur workex.
ME: Blah Blah ...
AP: So what does your product exactly do?
ME: Blah blah ...
AP: You say that you are creative, tell me an incident when u were creative.
ME: Narratted an incident with my robotics hobby.
AP: Tell me what are ur fav subjects in Engg.
ME: Electronics, Digital Electronics, Computer networks etc.
AP: Tell me about Moore's law.
ME: got this one wrong. said the no. of transistors doubling every five years.
AP: So do u think moore's law will be broken.
ME: talked about limitations being faced these days that might result in moore's law ending in next 20 years.
AP: What is MOSFET? What are its uses.
ME: told. talked about its use in digital electronics for gates.
AP: Draw me all the gates that you know of on the paper.
ME: <pretty simple> drew all the six.
AP: Ok so tell me how is inductance measured?
ME:Henri.
AP: Tell me the definition of a Henry. Do u know Henry's law?
ME: Dont know.
Now IP took over the charge.
IP: So you have been living in delhi for a long time.
ME: told him my isshtory.
IP: Have you heard of Qila Rai Pithora.
ME:
NOIP: Ok tell me abt tughlakabad. Who founded it and when?
ME: Me Mohd. bin Tughlak. Said something like 14th century<wrong here> before mughals.
IP: And what about Qutub Minar.
ME: Qutubuddin Aibak. Said 13th century<Wrong again> and was dethroned by one of his generals<gosh where did that come from>
IP: hmm... so u have stayed in Karnataka ... Whats Badami known for?
ME: Donno well but i think its known for architecture...I am not sure but i think it was built by Hoysala kings<phew whatta guess...but alas..wrong again>
IP: hmmm so tell me abt meditation and reiki ...
ME: blah blah ...
IP: Who was Patanjali? what was he known for?
ME: yoga. he made it easy for common man to understand and follow. more gibberish...
IP: Ok how many constitution amendments must ve taken place till now?
ME: i had heard abt the 56th a while back...so blurted around 80.
IP: what do u understand by legislature and judiciary?
ME: blah blah
IP: so do u know any constitution amendment which gives preference to one over the other?
ME: Told about the Ninth Schedule though i dint remember the name.
IP: Hmm i think i am through...do u have any questions?
ME: No Sirs.
I think I guessed a lot while I should have politely said"I dont know". Anyways ..waiting earnestly for the results
